Some in the Order say move is designed to keep Fra’ Festing from having any influence in the election of a new Grand Master.
As I mentioned in a previous post on this topic, you should wait for the final shoe to fall. It has. Festing is formally asked to not attend the election in Rome of a successor for the silly and ambiguous reason that it might bring back hurt feelings. Is the Order a bunch of wimps? I don’t think so. The fact is that Festing could be re-elected if allow to attend…they don’t want that to happen.
I say let him attend. If he’s not re-elected then you know there won’t be complaints later. Even Gamaliel was smart enough to know this.
